Susannah and Marina are identical twins with a very deep connection. As young girls they could read each other's thoughts and send messages telepathically, a trick they called nightspinning. But as they got older, the nightspinning became intrusive and their telepathic messages decreased. After college and their mother's death, Susannah takes the opportunity to start fresh, far away from their small Georgia town, her sister, and their nightspinning. When her sister is brutally murdered, Susannah feels an overwhelming sense of guilt for ignoring Marina's attempts to communicate. Months after Marina's death, Susannah experiences some strange events--unexpected flowers with no card, messages scratched into the door of her car, a lock of hair taped to her bathroom mirror. When she finds out these same types of things happened to Marina before she died, Susannah fears Marina's murderer is after her and that her sister might still be trying to reach out to her, nightspinning from beyond.
